question nobody asked
who prefers playing against better teams?

It's one of the few leagues in which Wolves are better than Arsenal, but, in games against teams in the top half , Mick McCarthy's side have taken six more points than the Gunners.
Admittedly, Wolves have played four more games against those in the top half of the table, but, if they do end up being relegated, McCarthy's bewilderment will only be increased by them taking 19 points from 15 games against the top half, and just five points from 10 games in the bottom half. Both Arsenal and Manchester United have played 11 times against teams in the top half, but the contrast in their record is startling, with Alex Ferguson's team top of this particular league with seven wins and four draws, while Arsenal have collected 12 fewer points (three wins, four draws, four defeats) to leave them 10th, one place behind Wolves.
The top four is completed by Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea, but, like Wolves, Blackpool seem to enjoy playing the better teams as they lie fifth with 16 points from 12 games against those in the top half.
