Yaya Toure - I thought I was joining Manchester United not Manchester City
If Man City fans were on the fence about Yaya Toure's recent contributions to the team, his latest comments might turn supporters against him even more.
Despite driving the side to two Premier League titles during his time at the Ethiad, Toure has been heavily criticised for a sub-par season, and his low-energy performance as City were knocked out of the Champions League against Real Madrid last night was widely panned.
There have been widespread reports that Pep Guardiola will include Toure as part of a mass clearout when he arrives in the summer, and if this is to be his final season, his comments to the Daily Mail just about sum up what has been a frustrating campaign for the City legend.
When Toure was first informed that a Manchester club had bid for him at Barcelona, he was a bit confused as to which team he might be joining.
"When I was at Barcelona and initially approached by Manchester City I thought it was Manchester United that wanted me," he said.
"My agent had to tell me it was the team in the blue shirts.
"At the time Manchester United were putting Manchester City in the shadows. It was unbelievable. Manchester United is a big club and I respect that club a lot."
Nobody apart from Sergio Aguero has played a bigger role in helping the blue half of Manchester relegate their red rivals to a secondary attraction, but Toure's time with the club looks to be ending in a very underwhelming fashion.
