A young child has become the latest person to get a cheap laugh out of Liverpool defender, Dejan Lovren.
The Croatian centre-back has become a figure of ridicule after enduring a difficult start to his Liverpool career since his £20 million transfer from Southampton to Liverpool in 2014.
Despite being the target for abuse from fans and neutrals alike, the 26-year-old has enjoyed a welcome return to form under new manager Jurgen Klopp who hailed the surprising quality of the defender.
“He has shown he strong he is and for me I’m not surprised about this. I knew about his quality," said Klopp.
“I was surprised a little bit surprised about what everybody told me about him."
After being so kindly built up by his German manager, Lovren's confidence suffered a devastating blow after one West Ham fan "pied-off" the Croatian's offer of a handshake.
In a textbook piece of a tunnel-tomfoolery, the young West Ham mascot offers Lovren his hand whilst the two opposing teams lined up in the Upton Park tunnel.
Though Lovren laughed off the prank at the time, the psychological effect of the snub seemed to linger with the defender as Liverpool quickly fell behind to an early goal from Michail Antonio.
