Southampton striker Shane Long is hoping to get one over on his international team mate Jonathan Walters when the Saints take on Stoke City at St Mary's tomorrow afternoon.

Seventh-placed Southampton go into the game four points and five places above Stoke and they have scored almost twice as many goals as the Potters - 19 compared to 10. Stoke also head to the south coast having not won at Southampton since 1980 - although that statistic masks the fact there have only been 10 visits in that time, and there were none between 1985 and 2005.

The clash will see Long face-off against a number of Ireland comrades including Monday night's two-goal star Walters and he's hoping to rain on their parade on his return to club action from injury.

"He's a hero in Ireland at the moment. He was suspended for the first leg but came into the second game and scored the two goals," he said

"He's a great lad as well, I was delighted for him. Hopefully I can wipe a bit of the smile off his face on Saturday.

"I'll catch up with his before the game and hopefully I'll be the one smiling at the end of the game."
