Roy Keane is unlikely to sleep much sleep over the exclusion, but current Red Devil Juan Mata has deemed the former club captain surplus to requirements in his greatest ever Man United selection.
The Spaniard outlined who he believes is the cream of the crop to have donned the famous red jersey, with the former Chelsea man going for an adventurous 3-4-3 formation.
While Peter Schmeichel, Cristiano Ronaldo, George Best and Bobby Charlton are among the names included, the current Republic of Ireland assistant manager is deemed surplus to requirement. The Treble winning captain is ousted by a midfield of Ronaldo, Giggs, Beckham and Ronaldo, which appears to have little defensive cover.
Keane isn't the only high-profile player to miss out. Gary Pallister and Steve Bruce, one of the most formidable central defensive partnerships the club has ever had, are omitted with Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand getting the nod, while Denis Irwin, Gary Neville and Bryan Robson may also be disappointed not to make the cut.
Mata's Dream Team: Schmeichel; Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand; Beckham, Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs; Charlton, Best, Cantona
