Students' role in English downfall
A German student has revealed exactly how Germany got the better of England at the World Cup. A team of students at the German Sports University carried out a study into every opponent and a dossier was handed to manager Joachim Loew.
Research leader Stephan Nopp said: "The German coaching staff knew what would happen when England got the ball -- we got it right.
"For England, the ball went very often through the centre to Lampard, Barry or Gerrard, who had moved in from the left. Gerrard had a lot of action in the centre although he should be the left-midfielder."
With hindsight, pointing out England's failings is not rocket science but help is always appreciated and Germany's assistant boss Oliver Bierhoff publicly thanked the students.
