Dele Alli had the perfect comeback this morning when Spurs teammate Eric Dier took to Twitter to mock him for his scarcely believable miss during last night’s win over Stoke.

Alli, who has been a revelation in Mauricio Pochettino’s young and dynamic Tottenham outfit this season, accounted for half of his side’s goals in their 4-0 romp of the Potters at the Britannia last night.

The equally lethal Harry Kane also bagged a brace as Spurs closed the gap on league leaders Leicester to five points.

However, Alli somehow managed to conjure arguably the biggest howler of the season.

It looked certain that he would complete his first hat trick for the club when slaloming through the Stoke defence and a hapless Shay Given but, with the goal at his mercy, the youngster contrived to hit the upright.

It was quite the sight. So, like all good friends, Dier thought Alli should re-live the embarrassment. But, with the back catalogue the ex MK Dons starlet has amassed of late, he soon put Dier back in his place.

Alli’s sumptuous strike against Crystal Palace - the hot favourite for goal of the season – was more than enough to remind Dier who he was dealing with.
