Second Liverpool player involved in shisha pipe controversy
Jordan Ibe has become the second Liverpool player to come under for smoking a shisha pipe after pictures emerged alongside Raheem Sterling.
Manager Brendan Rodgers said on Monday night he would speak to Sterling after newspaper photographs showed the England winger smoking a pipe and then inhaling nitrous oxide – or laughing gas – from a balloon.
It is understood that the conversation will be a paternal discussion rather than a more formal encounter involving disciplinary action, although Rodgers did criticise the 20-year-old, who scored the opening goal on Monday as Liverpool moved to within four points of Manchester City with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle at Anfield, for "doing something a professional sportsperson should not be doing" by being photographed in compromising situations.
Now the Mail Online has published pictures of the up-and-coming teenager Ibe smoking, though it is understood the photographs were taken earlier this season when the players were on a night out in London.
The club have declined to comment on the latest developments involving 19-year-old Ibe
