Referee Mike Dean sent down to the Championship after heavy criticism over controversial decisions
Regular Premier League official Mike Dean will be out of the spotlight this weekend after being assigned a game in the Championship following a number of high profile incidents.
Dean came in for heavy criticism from pundits and fans after dismissing West Ham's Sofiane Feghouli against Man United, with the red card later being rescinded.
Niall Quinn slammed Dean's behaviour on Sky Sports after the game while Stephen Hunt called him 'possibly the most arrogant man I've met on the pitch' in his Sunday Independent column.
Dean's decision not to send off Ross Barkley for a heavy challenge in the Merseyside Derby was also questioned and according to The Telegraph, the experienced official will drop down a division this weekend after discussions with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited.
The paper reports that Dean will take charge of Barnsley vs Leeds, and it will be interesting to see whether or not he gets any more high profile games as the season progresses.
