O'Shea return a welcome boost to Trap and Ferguson
JOHN O'SHEA has delivered a welcome boost to both Alex Ferguson and Giovanni Trapattoni by returning to first-team training.
The Waterford man has been absent since Ireland's heartbreaking play-off loss to France in November, with what appeared to be a routine setback complicated by calcification of a blood clot in a thigh muscle.
Ferguson hinted that it could be serious enough to end O'Shea's season, with graver rumours suggesting that he would struggle to return in 2010 -- thus ruling him out of Ireland's early Euro 2012 qualifiers. But the 28-year-old is now back training with the Manchester United first team.
Trapattoni will be relieved as the prospect of entering the autumn without O'Shea would have worried the Italian greatly.
