Premier League footballer Nile Ranger's Range Rover was driven off without him while he was being arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, police said today.
The 20-year-old Newcastle United striker was stopped by officers in Clayton Street, Newcastle, at 4.53am yesterday.
Northumbria Police said: "While officers were speaking to the man outside of the vehicle, the Range Rover drove off from the scene.
"Officers stopped the vehicle nearby and two further men, aged 18 and 21, were arrested for being carried by a motor vehicle taken without consent and TWOC."
Ranger was released on bail pending the result of a blood test.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old man was charged with drink-driving and driving with no insurance. The 18-year-old will face no further action.
Earlier today, Ranger posted on his Twitter account: "Lifes Too Short To Worry About Things."
