Mourinho wants 'assurances' over transfer funds as he targets big money move for Bayern Munich all-rounder

12 games into the Premier League season and despite extensive summer transfer activity, it looks like Man United are still looking to strengthen a couple of areas of their team - so Jose Mourinho is looking to buy a player who could do just that.
Few players are as versatile as Bayern Munich's Austrian all-rounder David Alaba, who has been deployed at left back, as a left-sided centre back and as a central midfielder.
The fact that Alaba has performed brilliantly in all these roles is a testament to his immense talent, and although Ireland managed to subdue the Austrian star in their 1-0 win in Vienna, he remains one of football's most wanted men.
There has been plenty of talk that Alaba will join his former Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola at Man City, but reports today link him with their cross-city rivals Man United.
According to The Mirror, Jose Mourinho 'wants assurances' from Ed Woodward that he will once again be given a sizable transfer budget as he looks to make a move for Alaba, who is valued at a minimum of £40m.
Given the struggles United have had at left back, particularly given the breakdown in Mourinho's relationship with Luke Shaw, Alaba could be a perfect fit at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old has played his entire senior career with Bayern Munich, winning five Bundesliga titles and one Champions League medal.
