Mourinho eyes Spurs star as new Michael Carrick and plans to start summer spending spree with €45m move
Jose Mourinho is reportedly planning a big money move for Spurs midfielder Eric Dier as he looks to find a long-term successor to Michael Carrick in the heart of the Man United midfield.
According to The Sun, Mourinho is preparing to make a €45m summer bid for the England international, who has starred for the London club during the last two seasons.
At just 23, the United boss is hoping that the money spent on Dier will be repaid over a long period of time, just as the Red Devils were willing to spend big on Paul Pogba as a future investment.
Despite a number of high profile signings upon his arrival, Mourinho's men are still outside the Premier League top four at present, although they're also favourites to win the Europa League, which would earn them a Champions League place.
