James Milner scored the winner on his first start for Liverpool as they beat Australian champions Brisbane Roar 2-1 on their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia yesterday.
The midfielder, signed on a free transfer from Manchester City, struck 15 minutes from time in front of a 50,000 crowd which sang a hearty rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.
Brisbane scored first before Adam Lallana equalised from Milner's cross.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have been told by the Premier League that they will not be permitted to divide their home fixtures between Wembley and Stadium MK in Milton Keynes while White Hart Lane is redeveloped.
Tottenham intend to move out of White Hart Lane for the 2017-'18 season during construction of their 61,000-capacity £400m stadium, but the option of using Wembley for higher-profile matches and Milton Keynes for other fixtures has been ruled out.
"You can't have 19 homes games with 10 at Milton Keynes and nine at Wembley," said Premier League chief Richard Scudamore.
