Paul Pogba has told Juventus fans in New York that he is staying with the Italian club for another season - but we are not sure even they believed him as he muttered the words.
Manchester United are expected to confirm the €110m world record capture of the France midfielder in the coming days, after weeks of speculation suggesting they were preparing to re-sign the player who left the Old Trafford club for nothing in the summer of 2012.
The latest rumours suggest Pogba will complete his move to United when he returns from his holiday in America, yet a couple of Juventus fans got very excited when the 23-year-old star suggested that he was planning to stay in Turin after all.
After signing a Juventus call, he responded positively to the question over whether he would be staying with the Italian champions, in this club from the Italian Football TV Youtube channel.
Man Utd fans hoping to see Pogba return should not lose too much sleep over these comments, with Old Trafford chiefs confident of confirming the signing of the summer before Sunday’s Community Shield match against Leicester at Wembley.
Pogba's assertions, although unconfirmed, contradict reports in Italian media claiming that his move to Old Trafford was 'hours away'.
Italian website Il Tempo claimed that the Juventus midfielder will fly into Manchester on Thursday for a medical.
Elsewhere, reports have claimed the 23 year-old will sign a deal worth around £275,000 a week.
Four years ago today, Pogba left United for Juventus for a fee of just £800k.
