Manchester United great David Beckham has backed Memphis Depay to grow into his role as the club’s new No.7.

Beckham wore the iconic United shirt with pride during his time at Old Trafford and he believes Dutch youngster Depay has the right temperament to shine in the jersey that has also been worn by the likes of George Best and Eric Cantona.

“It’s a big shirt to grow into, but he is a young talent who seems to have great confidence,” stated Beckham.

“He has that confidence and also needs to have a humble side to his game. He has already scored some big goals, so I think he can handle it.”

Beckham has put together a star-studded match at Old Trafford on November 14th, with Sir Alex Ferguson set to take charge of a United side featuring some of the greatest players he managed during his time as the club's manager.

Meanwhile, Beckham's former Real Madrid team-mate Zinedine Zidane leading a team that will be managed by former Chelsea boss Carlos Ancelotti.

In an interview with FullTimeDevils and Squawka, Beckham opened up on all things United, as he suggested Old Trafford hero Paul Scholes should be placed higher up the pecking order when the game's greats are rated.
