United can win cup treble this season, claims Valencia
Antonio Valencia believes Jose Mourinho has banished memories of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal's troubled Manchester United regimes and restored the feel-good factor enjoyed under Alex Ferguson.
The United right-back, who credits Mourinho with elevating his own game, also claimed Sunday's EFL Cup final triumph against Southampton can provide the platform for more silverware this season, as he backed the team to win the FA Cup and Europa League.
Valencia spent four seasons playing under Ferguson, before his retirement ushered in a collapse under Moyes and Van Gaal, but the Ecuadorean credits Mourinho with making Old Trafford a happy and feared ship again.
"This is the mentality that we have - that trophy has given us much confidence," Valencia said. "We are thinking about these three trophies. I think we can do it. We have to realise we are Manchester United and that we can go on to win these three trophies.
"I think it's the same atmosphere [now to when Ferguson was in charge]. We have that security of playing under a top manager."
Mourinho claimed last month that Valencia had become the best right-back in world football.
United, meanwhile, are set to play Manchester City and Barcelona in pre-season friendlies in the US this summer. United have reached agreements in principle to face City and Barcelona in the International Champions Cup in July. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
