Marcus Rashford has backed Manchester United's efforts to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho has suffered a frustrating start to his summer with the news that Antoine Griezmann is staying at Atletico Madrid followed by Romelu Lukaku's intention to snub United's interest in favour of a £80million return to Chelsea.

Following the injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic Mourinho is firmly in the market for a new No.9 with Real's Morata high on his list alongside Torino striker Andrea Belotti.

Any move for a striker figures to limit Rashford's playing time once again after he played second fiddle to top scorer Ibrahimovic last term.

But, perhaps surprisingly, the 19-year-old is all in favour of United pursuing the types of players insisting doing so will help them in their overall goal winning more silverware.

"At a big club you are going to attract big players and that's what we want," Rashford told Sky Sports News HQ. "Anyone who can come in and help the club win trophies, which is the ultimate aim, they are the players we want to bring in.

"Good competition is important if you want to be successful."

Despite the storybook start to his career Rashford remains a very young player and he is thankful for the help he has received from the likes of Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford.

"The way they (Ibrahimovic and Rooney) think, their mentality towards the game, they are the biggest things that I can take from their game," he added.

"I think with those type of players, whether they are here for the next five years or however long they are here for, you never stop learning from them."
