After the £59.7m signing of Angel di Maria, Manchester United have now spent £213.7m on eight transfers since the start of last year. So far none of the players has greatly excelled - four are yet to make their debut for the club - having combined to make only 35 starts in all competitions and score only seven goals in that time.

1. Wilfried Zaha

Signed 25 January 2013

£15m from Crystal Palace

Games 2 (2 as sub)

Goals 0

The 21-year-old winger was Sir Alex Ferguson's last signing for the club, joining the squad in summer 2013. David Moyes selected him for the Community Shield but he quickly fell out of favour and was sent on loan to Cardiff City. He has not figured under Louis van Gaal and has been linked with loan moves to Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers.

£2.4m from Penarol

The 21-year-old right-back had a two-week trial with United after impressing at the 2013 South American Youth Championship for Uruguay. He became Moyes's first signing shortly afterwards and signed a five-year contract, but has not come close to playing for the first team.

3. Marouane Fellaini

Signed 2 September 2013

£27.5m from Everton

Games 16 (6 as sub)

Goals 0

Fellaini was a deadline day signing from Moyes's former club but was a disaster last season, failing to score throughout the campaign and becoming a symbol of what was wrong with Moyes's tenure as manager. It is believed he does not have a future at United under Van Gaal, but a move to Napoli fell through this month.

4. Juan Mata

Signed 25 January 2014

£37.1m from Chelsea

Games 16 (1 as sub)

Goals 7

The Spaniard is popular with a large section of United fans, and has scored seven goals in his time since becoming the club's record signing. However, he has failed to make an impact in matches with the bigger teams in the Premier League and his place in the team will now come under scrutiny with the arrival of Angel di Maria.

5. Ander Herrera

Signed 26 Jun 2014

£29m from Athletic Bilbao

Games 1

Goals 0

Impressed during United's summer tour of the US after many fans questioned the size of his transfer fee - more than his Spanish midfield compatriot Cesc Fabregas, who has 91 caps to Herrera's none. Injured in United's opening game of the season, the defeat to Swansea, causing him to miss the draw at Sunderland.

6. Luke Shaw

Signed 27 Jun 2014

£27m from Southampton

Games 0

Goals 0

Ruled out for the opening month of the season with injury, not long after Van Gaal complained that the England left-back is unfit. Made his competitive England debut at the World Cup and is considered one of the country's hottest prospects, but United fans will have to wait for him to make his debut.

7. Marcos Rojo

Signed 20 Aug 2014

£16m from Sporting Lisbon

The versatile Argentina defender is also yet to make his debut after problems with his work permit, and has now missed the matches at Sunderland and MK Dons. Could start for United at Burnley, with Van Gaal hoping he will provide much needed solidity to the back three or four.

8. Angel di Maria

Signed 26 August 2014

£59.7m from Real Madrid

Smashed the British transfer record with his transfer from Real Madrid. There is great excitement at Old Trafford about his signing, but many United fans believe the club have overpaid for Di Maria, who will be under pressure to make a big impact from the off.
