Manchester United are said to have told Everton that they will not sell midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin for anything less than £20m as the club seek to recoup the majority of the £24m they paid for him in 2015.

Schneiderlin has made just three substitute appearances in the league this season. The 27-year-old was thought to be on the verge of signing for West Brom earlier this month, but Everton have since emerged as the favourites for his signature with Toffees boss Ronald Koeman eager to resume the relationship they enjoyed at Southampton.

However, there is confusion surrounding the move. Schneiderlin was due to undergo a medical on Friday, but it was temporarily suspended after the clubs failed to reach to agree on a fee.

Everton are also believed to be keen to lure first-team exile Memphis Depay from United.
