Luke Shaw's agent has rejected reports that the full-back will be sold by Manchester United next summer and insisted he is determined to fight for his future at Old Trafford.

A variety of English newspapers reported that Shaw was surplus to requirements at United and would be off-loaded next summer, yet agent Jonathan Barnett has dismissed those stories and insisted the 21-year-old is determined to fight for his place in Jose Mourinho's side.

"He is happy at the club. Manchester United are very happy with him and he's very happy at Manchester United," Barnett told Sky Sports News HQ.

Shaw has been criticised by Mourinho for his performances and fitness levels this season and has been notable by his absence from recent squads despite being available for selection.

Yet the England defender is tipped to be handed a chance to impress the United boss in the FA Cup fourth round clash against Wigan at the end of this month, while he may also be in contention to play a role in the EFL Cup semi-final against Hull next week.

Shaw has started just six Premier League games this season, with injuries contributing to his lack of game time.

Now the defender is working on his fitness levels both United's fitness staff and his own personal trainer in a bid to convince Mourinho to hand him a chance to return to his first team plans.
