Manchester United have enquired about Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski - according to reports in Spain.
However, it looks like United would fail in any potential bid, with the player's agent saying his client has no intention of leaving the German champions.
Lewandowski has scored 19 goals in all competitions since joining Bayern last summer from Borussia Dortmund.
United have been long-time admirers of the 26-year-old and did try to buy him while he was at Dortmund.
David de Gea might not be this summer's hot transfer rumour talking point.
Despite much interest from Real Madrid during the winter window, it appears they have now gone cool on the idea of trying to sign the United keeper at the end of the season.
Instead, they have turned their attentions to Stoke's Asmir Begovic, according to the Express.
Real are said to have accepted defeat in their pursuit of De Gea, but now fancy their chances of signing Begovic.
The Bosnian is currently in discussions with Stoke over a new deal.
United are confident they will beat Liverpool and other suitors to the signing of Memphis Depay this summer.
The club are prepared to hand the PSV Eindhoven winger a four-year deal and pay him £135k-a-week.
Holland legend Ronald de Boer believes United will win the race for his signature.
"I don't want to say which club is more suitable for him, but if he goes to United he knows there is a Dutch coach there in Van Gaal who knows him from the World Cup," the former Ajax and Holland midfielder said.
"That is an advantage. He is one of the biggest talents in Europe - he has everything".
