Manchester United have agreed to sign Swiss teenager Nishan Burkhart, according to the player's father.
Burkhart, who plays for FC Zurich, had also been attracting interest from Chelsea and Arsenal after making it clear he wanted to leave the Swiss club.
The 16-year-old's father told media in his home country that he will complete the move this summer.
He said: "We have decided to leave the club in the summer. Nishan switches to Manchester United. He just has different ideas, that's what business is like."
Ancilo Canepa, the FC Zurich president, confirmed Burkhart's departure, saying that he would not be considered for selection for the rest of the season.
He said: "Nishan Burkhart's family have decided to move him to Manchester United.
"Therefore we have decided not to use the player. We are concerned with planning for the squad next season."
The fact that United appear to have agreed a deal will heighten suggestions that the club intend to retain Louis van Gaal as manager next season.
The Dutchman has been under pressure for most of the season but a recent run of good results - including the FA Cup quarter-final replay win over West Ham - has increased his chances of staying on at Old Trafford.
United are also interested in signing the Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos.
