Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has been named as the most valuable under-21 player in world football in a new survey.

Martial was a shock signing for United in the final days of last summer’s transfer window, with the lavish €45m fee handed out to sign the Frenchman surprising many observers.

Yet the French starlet made a big impression in his first season at United, scoring some crucial goals and playing in more matches than boss Louis van Gaal initially expected.

That vast investment in potential now looks set to pay off for United, with 20-year-old Martial now valued at €47.1m by the Soccerex study, with his value likely to rise if he enjoys another successful Premier League season.

United have two entries in the top 10 of the list, with striker Marcus Rashford in seventh position after his breakthrough campaign saw his stock rise dramatically over the course of 2016

Manchester City transfer target Leroy Sane is rated as the second most valuable youngster in football, with may explain why Schalke are demanding a fee in excess of €60m for the 20-year-old winger.

They are all crazy figures and yet in a market that may soon see Man Utd pay in excess of €100m to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus, the transfer boom looks set to continue throughout this summer.
