Man United send scouts to North America as they zero in on 15-year-old Canadian sensation
While Man United have recently been in the business of making big money purchases to fast track their ascent back to the summit of English football, they are also keeping an eye out for the next great superstar so they don't need to fork out a further fortune.
Famously, the English giants initially had Paul Pogba on their books as a sixteen year old, before allowing him to leave on a free transfer three years later after just one season with the senior squad. That mistake cost the club a world record fee in order to bring the midfielder back to Old Trafford last summer, and recent reports suggest they are hungry to get a similar young talent into the club.
15-year-old Canadian attacker Alphonso Davies became the second youngest starter in the history of the MLS this season when he lined out for the Vancouver Whitecaps and the impressive youngster is reportedly on the radar of Manchester United.
The Sun newspaper is reporting that Jose Mourinho wants to send United's America scout Jorge Avial to watch Davies at home to Seattle Sounders this weekend.
Davies operates primarily on the left wing, and mixes searing pace with physical strength. He is still very raw, but judging from these clips, he has bags of potential.
United fans will be hoping that if the Red Devils do sign the 15-year-old, his career turns out better than Freddy Adu, the American prodigy who was the youngest player to ever play in the MLS, but was never able to achieve his potential.
