Magpies go up in style
Newcastle United gained immediate promotion back to the Premier League before kicking a ball last night after Nottingham Forest's failure to beat Cardiff City confirmed the Magpies' return to the top flight.
The Toon Army rose to show their appreciation for manager Chris Hughton (above) before last night's Championship game against Sheffield United, which they won 2-1.
"It's a wonderful achievement by everybody at this football club from day one this season," Hughton said. "Everyone has had a real desire to get back to the division that everyone in this city believes we should be in. The title is important now and that's the target."
Newcastle, who have led the Championship for most of the season, have 89 points with five matches to play, six points clear of West Bromwich Albion, who seem set to go up with them.
