Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be facing an anxious wait over the coming days after dynamic forward Sadio Mane was hospitalised due to a shoulder injury sustained in a training ground collision.
Mane, who arrived from Southampton this summer for a fee of £30m, was taken to a nearby hospital to undergo x-rays following the incident in the Melwood centre this morning, according to reports in the Liverpool Echo.
Of the six players to arrive at Anfield this summer, Mane has arguably assimilated quickest, having impressed throughout their extensive pre-season fixture list and, most notably, in last weekend’s 4-3 win over Arsenal.
The Senegalese scored a fine goal just after the hour mark as Liverpool got Klopp’s first full season in charge underway in an eminently encouraging manner.
Liverpool entertain Burnley on Saturday, and the German coach will be hopeful he can call on Mane.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the club rejected Crystal Palace’s £30.5 bid for Christian Benteke as part of the fee was contingent on the London side reaching the Champions League.
