Liverpool have unveiled their new home kit for next season, complete with a new crest to celebrate the club’s 125th anniversary.

Leaks of the kit have been circulating for several weeks and many appear to have been accurate, with the distinctive red colour complemented by a white neckline in what is something of a blast from Liverpool’s glory days of the 1980s.

Captain Jordan Henderson, much-maligned keeper Simon Mignolet, midfield maestro Philippe Coutinho and forward Roberto Firmino were used to promote the new kit, which is the latest in the club’s lucrative deal with US company New Balance.

A glut of new signings are expected to arrive at Liverpool this summer and new faces could be used to promote the kit ahead of the next campaign, which the club hope will include a return to the Champions League.

Sunday's 2-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace has put a huge dent in their ambitions to secure a top four finish, with Jurgen Klopp's side next in action when they play Watford on Monday night.
