Italian champions Juventus have a hole in their midfield after the departure of Paul Pogba and the Serie A giants are favoured to land Arsenal's Jack Wilshere as a replacement, according to one prominent UK bookmaker.

Yesterday evening saw reports emerge that Arsene Wenger would allow the England international to leave on loan and Sky Bet have now installed Juventus as 3/1 favourites to capture the 24-year-old on a season-long deal.

The box-to-box midfielder has always shown plenty of promise but a combination of injuries and increased competition in the Arsenal midfield has hampered Wilshere's development in recent seasons.

New England manager Sam Allaryce opted to leave Wilshere out of his first England squad, citing a lack of game time as the reason for his omission.

"If Jack Wilshere was playing every week for Arsenal he would be in the squad, but unfortunately he isn't," said Allardyce.

"It is game time for him and it has been few and far between because he has had too many injuries unfortunately.

"It is a question of game time and the contribution he is making to Arsenal and he is not doing that at the moment, so I left him out."

The Arsenal talent has until 11pm tomorrow night to agree a move.
