Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has lavished praise on Jack Grealish and said his style reminds him of Barcelona star Andres Iniesta.

The Republic of Ireland prospect had been expected to join Nottingham Forest on loan before he close of the transfer window, but the sacking of Stuart Pearce saw that deal fall through.

The 19 year-old penned a contract extension with the struggling Premier League side last year and Agbonlahor says his team-mate is a special talent.

"Jack is easily one of the best players I've seen come through the youth team," he told Match of the Day magazine.

"He reminds me of Andres Iniesta. He’s a similar player – he’s always ready to receive the ball and good at running with it, too.

Grealish has struggled to make an impact on the first team despite Villa's disappointing season,  making nine substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, racking up just 211 minutes of top-flight football.

Last month Villa manager Paul Lambert fined Grealish a week’s wages – around £5,000 – and warned him to focus on football after the teenager vented his frustration about a lack of playing time on Twitter.

The Villa teenager scored five goals in 38 appearances in all competitions during a season-long loan at League One side Notts County last season.
