Ireland and West Brom winger James McClean has pulled no punches in his description of Jurgen Klopp following the Liverpool manager’s refusal to shake hands with Tony Pulis last weekend.
McClean featured as the Baggies drew 2-2 with Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League last Sunday, having led until the 96th minute when Divock Origi netted an equaliser.
In what proved a tempestuous contest after Craig Gardener’s rash challenge on Dejan Lovren saw the Liverpool the defender leave Anfield on crutches, Klopp told the media that he would not shake the hand of his Welsh counterpart because ‘it was not a friendly game.’
Speaking to Sky Sports, McClean expressed his disapproval of the German coach’s conduct towards Pulis.
"I’ve got a lot of respect for the man because he done a great job at Dortmund," McClean said. "But I think he is a bit of an idiot to be honest after the game on Sunday. Win, lose or draw you have got to be respectful."
McClean has found some form under Pulis since his relatively surprise signing from Wigan over the summer and, earlier this month, netted his first goal for the club with a header that ensured a point against Spurs at The Hawthorns.
