Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that striker Harry Kane has signed a new contract with the club to tie him down until the summer of 2022, just 11 months after signing his last deal.
Talks between Spurs and Kane have been drawn out, with a number of key players among Mauricio Pochettino’s squad already securing long-term deals as the club look to hold onto their best players and built on last season’s Premier League title challenge.
Kane was the standout player who was yet to sign a new deal, despite agreeing a five-and-a-half year contract in February, as many felt that his £50,000-a-week wages were well short of his true value given he topped the Premier League goalscorers’ chart last season.
But confirmation came on Thursday morning that Kane has put pen-to-paper on a new five-and-a-half year contract, which will run until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Speaking in a video released by the club, Kane said: "It's amazing. Everyone knows how much I love this team and what I feel for this club.
“To sign another contract is a special feeling. We’ve got a great, young squad and the club is moving in the right direction."
