Gunners refuse to give up hope on Benzema

Arsenal are refusing to give up on Karim Benzema despite Rafael Benítez's insistence that he wants to keep the striker at Real Madrid.
Benzema has not travelled to Munich with the Real squad for the Audi Cup, but Benítez has reiterated his desire to hold on to the Frenchman.
There was further evidence on Tuesday night, however, that Benzema will not be a first-team starter for Real this season as Gareth Bale was handed a central striking role.
Bale has been promised a run in his favoured position by Benítez and will be partnered by Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also missing from the Audi Cup squad.
That will leave Benzema as the odd man out and Arsenal are ready to launch a bid to sign the 27-year-old towards the end of the transfer window.
Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has claimed he is not desperate to make a new signing, but has admitted that the club are ready to take advantage of any opportunities. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
