Sam Allardyce was sacked by Newcastle in January 2008 when they were 11th in the Premier League table... he who laughs last!

Newcastle's failure to beat Aston Villa as Sunderland produced an incredible come-from-behind victory against Chelsea has ultimately led to their downfall.

The Black Cats were fortunate to come up against an Everton side bereft of confidence and with no passion for the fight and easily accounted for them 3-0 thanks to a brace from Lamine Kone and Patrick van Aanholt free-kick.

Norwich beat Watford 4-2 at Carrow Road tonight but they will also be plying their trade in the Championship alongside the Magpies next season.
