Star goalkeeper David de Gea's future was consistently uncertain during Louis van Gaal's tenure as United boss, with the shot-stopper reportedly coming within a broken fax machine of joining Real Madrid last season.

However, it seems the arrival of the Special One has assured de Gea that the Red Devils are moving forward, as the Spaniard was full of praise for his new boss this afternoon.

"Talk about Jose Mourinho and you're talking about a winner," de Gea said to Press Association.

"Winning is United's, Jose's and my philosophy. We can make a great team and I welcome him.

"I've got three more years on my contract with United and the desire to win more titles here.

"When it comes to United, if you don't win everything, it's not good enough."

De Gea's statement of commitment will give United fans a huge boost as Mourinho plots his summer overhaul. Daley Blind and Juan Mata are reportedly two players the Portuguese manager wants to get rid of, with John Stones and Karim Benzema said to be high on Jose's wish-list.
