Blossoming Elm raises Cottage roof

Goals from Danny Murphy, David Elm and Bobby Zamora lit up Craven Cottage last night as Roy Hodgson's side proved too strong for travel-sick Burnley.
The Clarets, still looking for their first away win of the season, were always on the back foot and offered minimal threat to the home defence.
Fulham created the first chance in the seventh minute when Damien Duff's cross-shot only just missed the far post and the waiting Simon Davies.
Captain Murphy, though, broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute. A cross from Nicky Shorey was headed into his path by Elm and the former Liverpool midfielder applied a neat finish from six yards.
A terrific save by Brian Jensen denied Dickson Etuhu before Swedish striker Elm pounced on a Jensen save on 31 minutes to slot home his first goal for the Cottagers. Bobby Zamora should have made it three five minutes after the restart but his shot was brilliantly saved by Jensen.
Seconds later, an attempted cross from Duff confused Jensen, who was relieved to see the ball drop onto the top of the net.
However, Burnley paid for some woeful defending in the 53rd minute when Zamora was fouled by David Edgar on the edge of the area. Zamora got up to curl a low free-kick into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.
