Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper Loris Karius has reportedly been dropped in favour of Simon Mignolet for tonight's Premier League encounter away to Middlesbrough.

The German shot-stopper was purchased in the summer as a replacement for the Belgian but a series of costly errors in recent weeks has piled pressure on Karius, with the Neville brothers and Jamie Carragher questioning his readiness for the Premier League.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp defended his goalkeeper during his press conference this week, but according to Paul Joyce of The Times, he has decided to bring Mignolet back into the starting team for tonight's trip to Middlesbrough.

Karius came under fire after a poor display in a 4-3 loss to Bournemouth followed by another unconvincing outing against West Ham at Anfield last weekend.

The German was bought from Mainz for £4.7m in the summer.
