Arsenal set to offload £9m-rated Bendtner

Nicklas Bendtner is on the verge of ending his Arsenal career, with Borussia Dortmund and Sporting Lisbon in advanced talks over a £9m deal.
As the squad departed to Malaysia yesterday for their pre-season tour of Asia, Manuel Almunia was another notable absentee. He has also been given permission to open negotiations on a transfer, with Malaga and Atletico Madrid interested in the 35-year-old goalkeeper.
Bendtner and Almunia have each been at Arsenal for seven years but, as manager Arsène Wenger tries to refresh his team, he is willing to allow both to leave.
Arsenal hope to sign Spain winger Juan Mata and Bolton defender Gary Cahill. Arsenal have an interest in Liverpool target Stewart Downing, but it is understood that they have not submitted a formal offer.
Henri Lansbury and Ignasi Miquel, who could potentially move on loan to Bolton as part of any deal for Cahill, have both been omitted from Arsenal's tour squad.
Barcelona and Arsenal have been in dialogue over Cesc FAbregas but the stumbling block remains a difference of at least £5m in their valuations. Wenger has been vocal about his intention to keep him, yet there remains a sense that Arsenal will allow their captain to leave if an acceptable offer is tabled. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
