KEITH ANDREWS last night handed in a transfer request at Ewood Park in an attempt to negotiate a move away from Blackburn Rovers.

The Ireland midfielder, who spent the first half of this season on loan to Ipswich, is desperate to leave the Lancashire club -- where he has been surplus to requirements since the appointment of Steve Kean -- to secure first-team football ahead of Euro 2012.

Relegation-threatened duo Wolves and Wigan are favourites for his signature, but a number of other clubs are thought to be monitoring Andrews' situation. Ipswich are also interested in taking him to Portman Road on a permanent deal.

Another Ireland international who could be on the move is Stephen Hunt, who is the subject of interest from Celtic. Neil Lennon wants to bring the Waterford native to Parkhead until the end of the season.

James McCarthy won't be moving from Wigan today, according to manager Roberto Martinez who said: "Victor (Moses) and James are the two younger players in this football club and it would be wrong for us to sell these assets."

Anthony Stokes, meanwhile, was last night linked with a £3m move to Lokomotiv Moscow.
