Adebayor: Manchester City ready to fight for top-four finish
Wednesday November 25 2009
Emmanuel Adebayor claims Manchester City are still on course to secure Champions League qualification this season.
City have endured a run of six successive Premier League draws that has rendered Saturday's clash with Hull a must-win fixture for Mark Hughes's team, yet Adebayor is adamant that a top-four finish is well within the team's grasp.
City have dropped to sixth, four points and a game in hand behind fourth-placed Tottenham, having failed to record a league victory since September.
Hughes's expensively assembled team threw away the opportunity to claim three points against Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday by conceding an equaliser just a minute after taking a 2-1 lead.
But with only Manchester United having beaten City this season, former Arsenal forward Adebayor insists that it is time to look at the positives at Eastlands.
He said: "We are not losing games and that is positive. All we are doing is drawing or winning and I am very happy with that.
"If we can win more, it will be even better, but don't forget that there are six months still to go and the league is still open.
"Our objective is to finish in the top four. We know it will be very difficult and it is going to be tough, but we are ready to fight for it. How we deal with the hard times will be the test of whether we finish in the top four."
