Plovdiv pray lamb sacrifice is rewarded
Roman Abramovich will be watching closely to see if Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv's attempts to improve their form prove successful.
A lamb was sacrificed on their pitch on Wednesday, and a priest known to be an ardent Lokomotiv supporter performed a religious ceremony for the team's prosperity. Their captain Zdravko Lazarov then painted the goal posts with the animal's blood.
While the Bulgarian club, fifth in their league, have been criticised for their drastic measures, their approach will certainly prove cheaper than spending £50m on a striker to inspire their team.
