'Paul Pogba murdered you, mate!' - Gary Cahill produces perfect response to Twitter critics

The conventional wisdom says you should 'ignore the haters,' but Gary Cahill has decided to take on his Twitter critics following England's defeat to France on Tuesday night.

After a successful season in which the centre back won his second Premier League title in three years, Cahill was one of a number of England players to endure a difficult night in Paris as Gareth Southgate's side fell to a humbling 3-2 defeat.

England's defence was run ragged by a young and vibrant France team that featured the highly-rated trio of Kylian Mbappe, Thomas Lemar and Ousmane Dembele.

However on a night when France showcased it's next generation, it was a more familiar face that produced the moment of the match.

England's - and Cahill's - struggles when Paul Pogba emphatically 'sent Cahill for a hotdog' with an impressive piece of fleet-footed brilliance to round the former Bolton defender .

Fans on Twitter were quick to lay into the 31-year-old who has been criticised for his defensive performances for England in the past.

After tweeted his disappointment with the defeat, one user replied: "Disappointed Pogba turned you into a catfish last night.

Another simply wrote: "Pogba murdered you mate."

Rather than brush the comments off, Cahill twice responded by posting a picture of himself lifting the Premier League trophy.

After tweeted his disappointment with the defeat, one user replied: "Disappointed Pogba turned you into a catfish last night.

Not a bad way to win an argument.
