"How do they get away with only calling a player one name? I could never put Macker, Redzer or Spud down"

He received plenty of high praise for his commentating during the World Cup, but last night Brian Kerr took plenty of flack during Real Madrid's 2-0 Super Cup win over Sevilla.

Kerr was co-commentator with Stephen Alkin on RTE's coverage last night and at one point the former Ireland manager took offence with players with just one name, saying: ""How do they get away with only calling a player one name ? I could never put Macker, Redzer or Spud down."

He also came up with this gem: "If your keeper let one in like that in the AUL you'd be giving him lackery."

Here is how Twitter reacted last night.
