Supporter dies during Cork City and Linfield's Europa League clash at Windsor Park

Cork City's 1-0 win over Linfield in the Europa League qualification first round first leg has been marred by the news that a fan passed away at Windsor Park during the game.

The Northern Ireland club announced the death on their website shortly before midnight, but not many details have been released as to the what occurred as of yet.

"The sympathy and condolences of everyone at Linfield FC are extended to the family and friends of the Linfield supporter who sadly passed away during tonight's Europa League game at Windsor Park," the club's statement read.

"Further details will be provided when they are known."

People paid tribute to the deceased on Linfield's official Facebook page.

"Rest in peace gentleman and fellow blue man," one fan said.

"So sad. Always hard to take in," said another.

This is the third Northern Ireland fan to pass away in recent weeks, following the deaths of Darren Rodgers and Robert 'Archie' Rainey at Euro 2016.
