Even the football legends are fans at heart and Lionel Messi has confirmed as much by displaying some of the memorabilia he has collected over course of his remarkable career.

Barcelona superstar Messi has won four Champions League titles and is assured of a place alongside the greatest players who have ever graced the game, so it is safe to assume that the players he has swapped shirts with down the years have got the better end of the exchanges.

Yet the Argentine legend has not used some of the less impressive shirts as dusters, as he confirmed with an intriguing post on Instagram that has already generated more than 2m likes.

Some of the shirts featured in a corner of his home come as something of a surprise, with West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini given a central position in Messi’s display, as is a Mancheser City shirt worn by Yaya Toure.

There are also international shirts from Messi’s former Barcelona team-mates Cesc Fabregas and Thierry Henry, with some of his own jerseys thrown into the mix in what is a treasure trove of football history. However, one famous name missing from the photo is Cristiano Ronaldo, whose jersey is either absent or out of shot.

Here’s hoping Leo has a big lock on the door at his home as this little collection is priceless.
