Dundee United have agreed a deal with Celtic to take Anthony Stokes on loan until the end of the season, but the Ireland international is mulling over whether to join the struggling side.

Celtic manager Ronnie Deila has said publicly a move away from Celtic Park would be in the best interest of all parties as the 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order in Glasgow.

The Tangerines are currently bottom of the table and manager Mixu Paatelainen has admitted Stokes has other offers on the table.

“We have made an approach to Celtic and spoken to the player but I don’t how things will pan out,” he told BBC Scotland. “It’s up to the player to decide.

“He’s got loads of options. Obviously we’re a bottom-of-the-table club. I don’t think when you look at the league table that we are the favourites to get him.”
