Messi, who it was initially thought would not appear after his exertions for Argentina at the Copa America, returned to the Barcelona set up earlier than expected and, as such, Irish football fans now have the opportunity to see arguably the world's greatest player in the flesh.

Four-time winner of the FIFA Ballon d'Or, Lionel Messi is one of the most exciting players to watch due to his jaw-dropping skill, superb technical control, and ability to bring the best out in those around him.

Messi will spearhead the Barcelona squad, which also includes other notable stars such as Luis Suarez and Arda Turan, for the visit to Dublin for what promises to be a truly gripping encounter.

Celtic kicked off their involvement in this year's tournament last Saturday when hosting English Premier League champions Leicester City in Glasgow. After a 1-1 draw the game had to be decided by a penalty shoot-out, which the Foxes won.

Cork native Eoghan O'Connell was on target in that game and he will be part of the travelling squad who will take on Barcelona, who bring two of the world's most lethal strikers in Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to Aviva Stadium.

This game will be the first of two International Champions Cup clashes in Ireland this summer as Celtic take on Inter Milan in Thomond Park on Saturday, August 13. Before that comes around there is the unmissable game at Aviva Stadium.
