Sean St Ledger will link up with international colleague Kevin Doyle after signing a deal with Colorado Rapids.
The MLS outfit confirmed the deal, though the details of the contract were not disclosed.
Last week Orlando City have sacked St Ledger for “a serious breach of club policy" after featuring in 15 MLS games for Adrian Heath’s side this season,
The 30-year-old Ireland international had his career back on the right track after starting 14 matches since he moved to the MLS following unsuccessful spells in England with Leicester City and Ipswich Town, but was released by the club early into his $110,000-a-year contract.
He arrived in America earlier this year after 12 seasons in English football, the vast majority in The Championship. The centre back appeared in 199 games for Preston North End and, most notably, scored the goal that took them to The Championship playoff semi-final in 2009.
St Ledger has represented Ireland 37 times but has not featured at all under the management of Martin O'Neill.
