Irish football legend Denis Irwin is taking in tonight’s eagerly anticipated Europa League between the two rivals from the away end at Anfield, flanked by some illustrious team-mates from yesteryear.

The Cork native spent 12 years at Old Trafford after signing for £625,000 in 1990 from Oldham, with Alex Ferguson often stating the left-back was one of his best ever buys.

Irwin made a total of 529 appearances for the Red Devils, a key part in one of the most successful sides to ever grace the English game.

Now a club ambassador, he swapped the posh seats to get in and amongst the away supporters where he was joined by Andy Cole and Gary Pallister.
