Inverness have announced the appointment of Richie Foran as their new manager on a four-year contract.

Foran started his career in Dublin with St Pat's in 1998, before stints with Shelbourne and Home Farm, after which he moved to Carlisle United in 2001.

The attacker had spells at Oxford United, Motherwell, Southend United and Darlington before joining Inverness, where he spent the last seven years.

Foran notched 38 goals in 168 games for the Scottish side, but injuries limited his playing time in the last number of years. Inverness finished seventh in the SPL last season.

The 35-year-old has retired from playing to take up the manager's role full time.

The Dubliner won six caps for the Ireland U21 team, scoring two goals.
